Why a placement test is important

Before you German course If you're starting at tricos , we recommend... German placement test. This is how we find out which Language level (A1–C1) you currently have and which course – for example Integration course, Intensive course or Vocational language course – that suits you best.

How does the placement test work?

The placement test usually consists of a short written section and a personal interview. We will assess your skills in... Reading, writing, listening and speaking, based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). On this basis, we recommend the right course for you – for German as a Foreign Language (DaF), everyday life, work or exam preparation (e.g. telc, DTZ or TestDaF).

What should you bring?

  • valid ID card or passport
  • If available: previous certificates (e.g. telc, DTZ, TestDaF)
  • in integration courses: BAMF authorization certificate or obligation
